So you know just when to tune in, here is a look ahead to the key clashes for tomorrow; remember, Henley is five hours ahead of EDT in the US.
All times are local.
8:40am: Race 3: Molesey Boat Club vs. RTHC Bayer Leverkusen, Germany (Britannia)
The holders of this event square off against a real British heavyweight on the club rowing scene. RTHC Bayer Leverkusen were dominant in this competition last year, but may face sterner tests in 2017 during their quest for glory.
10:40am Race 23: RTHC Bayer Leverkusen, Germany vs. Mitsubishi Boat Club, Japan (Thames)
One of the highlights of Wednesday’s racing was watching the Japanese punch their way down the course in one of the most convincing victories of the day. Tomorrow, they face powerful opposition from Germany in an all-international crew affair.
11:20am Race 30: M.P. O'Leary vs J.H. Graves (Diamonds)
With newly minted world-record holder Robbie Manson dropping out of the Diamonds due to a rib injury, the Diamonds becomes a wide open race; the first scullers take to the course today, including this one with John Graves on the Bucks shore.
11:30am Race 31: University of Virginia vs Santa Clara (Temple)
One of four USA vs USA matches today, it is also an east vs west US face-off.
12:15pm Race 39: Team Keane Sculling School vs. Brown University, USA (Ladies)
Thursday sees the first action from the hotly contested Ladies Challenge Plate for intermediate eights. Team Keane, who were bumped up from the Thames Challenge Cup, meet Brown University’s Varsity eight in what is sure to be a fierce showdown. Brown, who finished sixth at the IRA State Championships, have former Henley winner Rufus Biggs in the 2-seat.
12:20pm Race 40: Oxford Brookes University ‘A’ vs. A.S.R. Nereus, The Netherlands (Temple)
A re-match of the 2015 classic which smashed the Temple Challenge Cup record. Two years ago, the Dutch ran out as winners and went on to record overall victory in the competition but 2017 may see things pan out a little differently. Brookes, who have had a fantastic domestic season, are strong favourites to walk away with the overall title.
2:30pm Race 46: Montclair High School, USA vs. St. Albans School, USA (Princess Elizabeth)
An all-American affair, as US national champions Montclair take on rivals St. Albans in round two of the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup. Montclair beat KCS Wimbledon by 2 and a ¼ lengths on Wednesday whilst St. Albans saw off Norwich School. Expect tension and domestic rivalry to provide the undercurrent here.
3:10pm Race 46: Deerfield School, USA vs. Kent School, USA (Princess Elizabeth)
Another all-American affair, the NEIRA neighbors face off again across the pond.
4pm Race 61: Radley College vs. St Edward’s School (Princess Elizabeth)
Two big names on the UK junior rowing circuit go head-to-head on the Thursday of Henley Royal Regatta. Radley look the stronger of the crews approaching tomorrow’s race, but St Edward’s are famed for their affinity with Henley Royal Regatta. This race could prove to be a classic.
4:05pm Race 62: Boston University USA vs Cornell University USA (Visitor's)
Heavyweights from BU and Cornell try their hands in the fours.
5:50pm Race 70: D.S.R. Laga, The Netherlands vs. Imperial College, London (Prince Albert)
Winners of the Temple Challenge Cup in 2013, Laga are always strong when they compete at Henley. Imperial College are arguably one of the domestic favourites, having recorded a series of impressive results at preceding regattas. The best of British come up against the strongmen from Holland shortly after the tea-break.
